Plant Family: Lauraceae.
Country of Origin: Madagascar
Method of Extraction: The oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the tree.
Main Therapeutic Properties: Antibacterial, Anticatarrhal, Antifungal, Antiviral, Decongestant.
Contraindications: Non-toxic and non-irritant in prescribed doses. Do not use on children. Keep away from children. Do not use during pregnancy.
Oil Appearance: Pale to Colourless.
Chakra: Throat.
Chinese Element: Metal & Water
This oil is often used to stem cold and flu like symptoms thanks to its antibacterial properties. It is a very versatile oil, and like Lavender, works well blended with other oils.
Use as an inhalent to encourage easy breathing for all the family.
Ravensara is a tall forest tree native to Madagascar with some cultivation on the islands of Reunion and Mauritius. All parts of the tree are aromatic and have been used by local people both in antiquity and current times.
